Bruce sat in his office, resting his face in his hands, trying to shake off the previous nights work. He had an appointment with the now richest man in in Gotham. It wasn't something he looked forward to, but it was needed.
Looking at his desk, an overly ornate affair in his mind, but it was the last remaining family heirloom left, between the house fire and the earthquake destroying his office. He did have a certain fondness for it at this point. Memories and all of that.
"Mr. Wayne," his secretary called over the intercom, "Mr. Luthor here to see you."
"Send him in," Bruce said, stretching again, adjusting his black tailored suit over him frame. "And I don't wish to be interrupted till he leaves."
"Yes, Mr. Wayne."

Lex walked confidently into the office of Bruce Wayne, a man that he respected as a business man, but not one he yet trusted or would call a friend. He however had spent a great deal of money on rebuilding Gotham after the earthquake. Something he had not done out of the goodness of his heart, like everything he did there was a plan behind it. It was not however something he would be discussing with Wayne today.
"Bruce Wayne" he said with a charming smile as he entered the office "Its good to see you again, how have things been?" It was a bit of a low blow that question, Lex knew but he really was fond of making sure people knew he was better than them, something that up until recently he had had trouble doing with Wayne. So he was going to enjoy it while the man was down, even if he was not so very down as Lex would have enjoyed.
He had nothing personal against Wayne mind, hell he might even like the man if he got to know him, who knew, but Lex was, as far as he was concerned the best, and would do anything it took to remain that way, and to have power over everything he possible could. This now happily, included much of Gotham City and not just Metropolis.

"They've been better Mr. Luthor," Bruce said with a half smile. "Though you already know that. I assure you though, the hit to Wayne Enterprises was far smaller then we originally planned. I didn't call you here to discuss business per-say."
Bruce got up from his desk and walked over to a mantle, pulling out a pair of fine cigars and walked back over to the desk. He set one down for Lex, knowing it was the same type Lex was seen with most often.
"What I wanted to talk about was Gotham," Bruce said, lighting his cigar. "We will always be competitors. Both our businesses are successful, and we even have several competing divisions. My main concern is that our businesses and competition won't be hurting Gotham. We both have plenty to offer the people here, and with the rate Gotham is growing, there will be plenty for us both. Gotham is my home town, and I don't want to see it any worse then it has been. I'm sure you'd feel similar if something happened to you."
