Batman never had enjoyed the newness of Gotham after the quake, but it certainly made patrolling more difficult. There were still plenty of dark spots around the city though, and darkness always brought out those who couldn't stand the light.
He hoped Dick was still resting well. The last few months had been brutal on them both, but Dick even more so. One gang fight after another had started to take its toll. Even Batman was beginning to feel the effects of all the late hours.
A silent alarm was set a few blocks away. Batman had long ago wired the computers in the Batcave to all the secuity firms around for just this purpose. Hopefully this would only be one or two people. He wasn't feeling like another gang fight tonight.

Harls bolted down the street in her brand new red Ferrari, in which she had just stolen. It hadn't been what she initially went out for but seeing as she just crashed her old ride, she then needed a get away car. And so there it was all nice, new and shiny just sittin there in the dealer window, just a begin to be taken out for a ride. It was now the new Harley ride, and gosh it was fast!
"Woo go baby!"
She whipped through the small about of traffic that was still out at the late hour. She also grabbed the attention of a few of Gothams finest coppers, which in her new hella awesome car lost them down an alley way.

Batman would have smiled if he thought anything about this was funny. Harley Quinn, causing more minor mischief. It still wasn't a gang fight, and he was fine with that. He'd take care of Harley easy enough. Maybe just slow her up enough to help the cops out.
Leaping from the building, Batman let himself free fall to pick up speed. It was always a rush to float in nothing, even for the short bit of time. Though, after the countless jumps hed already made, it was starting to loose its thrill. He pushed those thoughts aside as he ran the electricity through his wings, letting his wings float him through the city streets.
"Careful Harley," he growled as he glided after her. "You'd hate to scratch your new ride."

Uhhg it was that Batman guy being a party pooper again. Like always. He never let her just have fun, just had to get in the way of her and her puddin. Well not tonight, Harls was NOT going in this time. She looked up seeing the Bats swooping down over her new ride and she pushed the petal to the metal.
"Hey there ole kill-joy!"
Harls laughs manically as she pokers her finger in the button that shuts the sunroof, not paying any attention or noticing that the end of her alleyway was coming and she was about to be t-boned by the oncoming traffic. "You just make my day brighter you little ray of sunshine you!" Which was obviously a lie as he most definitely did not brighten her day...

Batman glided on, watching Harley narrowly weave through traffic in her typical fashion. He had to work as hard to keep her alive as he did to defeat her. This kind of work was always more up Barbera's alley, but Batman would oblige the clown faced woman. It would make for a half ways easy work out.
Gliding silently he turned off behide another building, starting to track her from a less obscure vantage point. He was not about to let himself slip and end up hurt while dealing with the likes of Harley Quinn. Stopping on another roof top, he watched Harley wind her way through the traffic.
He'd catch her yet, but not with poor choices. He just needed to be patient. She'd give him the opportunity yet, patience.
He had all night.

"Wh.. where did tha old pointy ears go! " It was mind boggling the crap out of little Harls that The Batman was now, nowhere to be seen. That was so not like him to just let her go like that. With a shake of her head she looked around, all while still driving extremely fast down the alley which only had a few short feet to go. But in her absent mindedness she didn't even notice she had just drove right into the traffic. And with a big crunching sound of metal to metal it was evident poor Harley was in quite a finder bender. The car was violently pushed into the side of a brick building and once it came to a stop she came stumbling out holding her left side where she was hit. Whining and whimpering as she ran off into another close alleyway, leaving her loot in the crushed ride. She had to get away from the Bats, who surly would have no problem catching her now. Now that she was just about broken in half and felt like dieing, to be quite honest. It was all she could take to run so with a glance over she shoulder she saw not Bats anywhere so she leaned onto a wall and slid down, letting her body rest and take a quick breather.

Batman let himself down into the alley quietly. Harley had really done a good job this time. She had nearly folded herself up in that car when she wrecked it. Hopefully she hadn't hurt herself too bad. She was hurt enough living with that clown.
"You should really be more careful Harley," Batman said, still hidden in a shadow. "You could get hurt driving like that."
He moved closer, still staying out of sight. He wasn't taking any pleasure from toying with her, but he had never knowns Harley to be unarmed. She would panic though.
She always did.

As soon as she heard that voice she knew it was all over with. "I blame you Bat's, you know I get detracted easy and a large flying bat over your head is a hoot ya know.." Even in imminence pain Harls had a joke, or tried to joke at least. So with a groan she held her ribs and attempted to take off down the other end of the alley. It was definitely a poor attempt but she was never one to do the smartest things.
"Sorry Bats can't sit around and chat, I'm a busy girl!"
She said with a strained giggle and pulled a large hand gun from her bag-o tricks. It was one of many she kept on her, Gotham was a dangerous place for a criminal theses days and one could never be to careful. Problem was she didn't exactly know where he was, he liked to hide alot. Which was extremely annoying but oh well, maybe mister bullet would find him. So she turned and aimed shooting the gun off in several different directions.

Batman watched as she ripped off round after round in the opposite direction while she ran towards him. Alleyways were funny things, the sounds seemed to echo to the point that you didn't know where they came from.
A quick batarang knocked the gun from her hand, as well as left a hole in it. It would be some time before she would be able to raise a weapon at all. He didn't smile though. This was not enjoyable, just a necessity.
"That will heal at Ahrkam," he said, stepping out of the shadows.

Nothing gave Sarah more peace than walking around Gotham at night while listening to her ipod...
Tonight was not one of those nights.
The day started out normally: Get up, go to school, do homework, wait for Edgar to fall asleep on the couch in a drunken stupor in front of the television, sneak out, and just walk aimlessly through the city until 3 in the morning. After doing this routine for the last few months since Gotham's earthquake and her parents death, it was basically life.
She was always tuned in to whatever was playing on her ipod, volume almost turned up, isolating herself from the outside world. There was nothing to bother her and disturb her night out on the town.
Well, too bad that was about to change all too soon.
Just as she was about to step off the curb to cross the street after the "walk" sign blinked on, she looked up for the first time in an hour or so, and fell back on the sidewalk in a rush to get out of the way.
It was usual for Sarah to almost get run over by a car one or two times a night because of her forgetfulness to look both ways. But at least those cars went the normal speed limit, and honked their horn at her to watch where she was going next time. She was nearly run over by a bright red Ferrari going at least 80 miles an hour!
"Hey!" she shouted after the car as it turned the corner into a nearby alley.
Sarah shook her head. Everyone in this town was crazy behind the wheel, so why shout at a person who did the same thing, only worse? Picking herself up, she put her headphones back in her ears, and walked the other crosswalk. Looking at her watch, the small screen glowed 11:01. Great, only 3 or 4 more hours until she had to be back at Edgar's apartment.
Suddenly, Sarah stopped...Hmmm...That's funny. For a moment there she thought she caught a glimpse of someone flying ahead of her...
Ha. Yeah right.
As she walked past a dark alley in a part of town that hardly anyone except crazy people came to, she heard something admidst the blaring music in her headphones.
Turning her head, she took in a silent, but sharp, breath. No. It--It couldn't be. Right in the alley next to her was Harley Quinn shooting a round at the Dark Knight himself. Quickly, she hid herself behind the side of a dumpster, and looked discreetly at the scene.
Batman had thrown something to knock the gun out of Harley's hand. She didn't know what else happened. All she did was take a nearby broken bottle that rested at her side, and attempted to throw it at Harley in case she wasn't threatened by the Batman.
Dang it! She missed! The broken glass fell to the ground behind Harley, and shattered into more broken pieces of glass.
Sarah always was bad at throwing stuff.
She knew she had to get away quickly. But in the process of getting up, she tripped over her own two feet, and fell back on the ground, in open view.
Uh-oh. she thought to herself as she looked wide eyed in fear. I'm in trouble now.

The batarang went faster than Harley could see and the next thing she knew it ripped across her hand, knocking the gun to the ground. That was all it took to unleash the beast. Harls was not usually an angry person, but now he'd done it. She was in enough pain as it was and now there was a gash the size of Texas in her hand. Broken rips and now a bleeding hand Harls had about had it...
As she was ripping off her glove and mask there was a shattering behind her and she whipped around to see what it was. Apparently some girly thought she would... help by throwing a bottle at Harley. Which was hysterical because as soon as she went to run away the little lady busted her rump.
"Your newest sidekick Bats?!" she said with crazy laugh as she had just seen this as a way out. "I have to say this one has talent!" With a one handed flip she was standing over the girl and pulling her up by the hair. "I hope Batgirl hasn't quit, cause if she has you are in deep doodoo Bats!" Now with her held tight in front, used as a shield of sorts Harley fished around in her bag for the "fake" grenade that did nothing but let out purple smoke when it went off.

The girl had to come out of nowhere. Harley wasn't Batman's most degerous adversary, but she would certainly kill if she felt cornered. And now she was definitly cornered. It was a bad place for a girl to stumble into.
"Don't do anything stupid Harley," Batman growled, steadily advancing, though leaving himself enough time to stop if she threatened the girl. Having a dead civilian on his hands would be a bad way to start the night off.
His hand slid along his belt, almost imperceptibly, looking for something that would give him the edge he needed. His mind ran its way along the belt, finding nothing that was a sure bet. In fact, at this range and with Harley's speed, there wasn't even a good bet.

Everything seemed to be a blur before Sarah felt herself being pulled to her feet by her hair, no thanks to Harley. She let out a short yelp of pain as a result. Now Harley had her right in front of her, using her as human shield to keep the Batman away at a good distance.
Sarah was frightened, to be honest. As the Batman came slowly towards them, careful to not cause any sudden movements, she closed her eyes, taking in deep breaths to calm her pounding, fearful heart.
"Let me go," she pleaded softly as she struggled a bit to get out of Harley's grip
